Defining Beneficiaries

Beneficiaries (or affected) countries are selected by clicking on  <<Select>> next to Partners under Step 2.

You can select:

  • All countries: if your scenario is multilateral and you want to reduce MFN tariffs for all partners. Note that given the underlying model, SMART is not very well fitted to this type of scenario.
  • Specific countries allows selecting one or more individual countries;
  • Country groups allows selecting one or several groups of countries;

The Select Exporters/Partners panel contains two panels: On the left hand panel you have three choices (i) Select Individual Country/Countries from Country List (ii) Select Standard Country Groups from Predefined Country Groups or (iii) select your own country group from My Country Group You can go through the full list of countries or groups by using the vertical scroll bar in the respective select boxes. You can select the country/countries or group(s) after selecting it in the select box and pressing the > next to the select box.If you have selected Groups and in your results you need the break down for individual countries also check the Include Country Group Breakdown check box.

To remove one more selected country or group select them on the right hand side and click on Remove button. To remove all the selection click on Remove All button. To cancel the selections and close the window click on the Cancel button. To confirm your selection click on the Proceed button, the Reporter selection window will close and will be displayed in Importers/Reporters section in the query panel. To modify the selection made click << Modify >>.
